These graphs indicates the number of foreign crime novels translated by French publishers during the last few years. These visualisations help to identify trends in the translation of works originating from different parts of Europe, and the association between certain publishers and specific European regions in which crime fiction is produced.
The graphs visualises the number of non-French crime novels in the catalogues of five major French publishers of crime/noir fiction and thrillers (Gallimard, Le Seuil, Rivages, Métaillié, Actes Sud) since 1990. Some of these publishers have had series entirely devoted to crime fiction, as Gallimard’s legendary “Série Noire”. The dataset also refers to the catalogues of three particularly active up-and-coming publishers: Le Mirobole éditions, Agullo, Les Arènes.
